Dandruff is one of the absolute best ways to completely destroy your appeal and instantly become disgusting to everyone around you.
Anecdotes:
When I was in 6th grade in the lunch line one one of my friends noticed my dandruff and screamed “_____ HAS LICE!! EWWWW” and ran away in front of probably 60 kids. JFL
Despite showering daily and using shit like head and shoulders/selsun blue I was an absolute flakecel.
I despised getting haircuts because it was inevitable after scratching my scalp/combing my hair at all flakes would immediately start to fall. Not to mention I have extremely dark hair, making white flakes very noticeable.
Another time in around 10th grade at a lake with about 20 people around (including my then ltb gf) a girl was comparing forehead sizes using her fingers, when it was my turn, of course, she mentioned my dandruff and was rightfully disgusted in front of everyone and I died inside. I can give probably 10 more examples of it being mentioned but you understand the point.
Anyways, I only mention this because I understand how horrible dandruff is for self confidence, especially when YouTube tells you to moisturize, try different drug store shampoos, and nothing you try seems to work, and if anything, makes it worse.
What works for me:
I first started to find relief with Dr. Squatchs shampoo and conditioner, but only if using frequently, atleast twice or a day for minimum flakeage. Even then, sometimes there would be minor amounts, but this mostly worked. If you have a very minor case, I’d try this. I don’t know if it works because it’s organic, but it definitely helped.
This is the specific one I have, it also smells and feels good.
I was content with the results for a few months, but knew this wasn’t the end game and things could be far better.
Then, one day while browsing Instagram I came across an ad that talked about how some dandruff is caused by a fungus (malassezia, which feeds off moisture like the coconut oil people use to treat their dandruff), and wasn’t the result of dry scalp, and how their product addresses this. The reviews were really good, and I decided to buy a bottle to see if the fungus could be the underlying issue. There’s a serum to disrupt the biofilm on the scalp, and then a shampoo that actually attacks the fungus.
I was willing to try almost anything to get lasting relief, so I bought the $90 kit with the serum and shampoo, and hoped for the best.
When I tell you after one wash with just the shampoo 90% of my dandruff was completely gone, I’m not over exaggerating in the slightest.
This shit literally saved my fucking hair confidence so much. Now I have no worries about things like a girl playing with my hair, or going to get a nice haircut. Moments that should be purely enjoyable.
My routine:
Conclusion:
If you’ve tried everything and can’t seem to get relief, or can only get minor relief with annoying upkeep, I definitely recommend trying the shampoo and serum to see if you’re not addressing the underlying issue. This is only the first brand I’ve seen/tried, so there may very well be a far cheaper way to accomplish the same effect. In my situation, $90 was literally nothing for the confidence boost I felt.

My routine:
Shower 1 time per day with the shampoo, rubbing it in thoroughly and leaving it in for a few minutes while you wash your body.
After showering, while your hair is damp, apply the serum and massage it into your scalp.
This is the only hair product I use now, and my hair has never felt and looked healthier.
