Closing tooth gap effects looks?

So my question is, if u close a tooth gap, does it affect the size of your palate? And if it does in what kinda way would that affect your looks? Mewing made my tooth gap bigger but cheekbones also better and im a bit worried if i close the tooth gap i lose alot of gains. Thanks.
