I've applied to 10+ grad programs and got rejected from all of them. I received testing and interviews but got rejected.
Additionally, and amusingly, I've applied to government programs but didn't even get interviews.

Tbh this cut throat market applies to most, if not all fields (STEM and non STEM, too).
I know of people who studied veterinary sciences, physio and med, and they are still extremely competitive for the prestigious placement/specialties, unless you practice rural.

I got a normal job in databases but I don’t like databases but it was better than being unemployed I did lose my job though but that’s a story for another day. Either way I have gotten very close to getting other jobs but got edged out every time by fuckers who were older with more exp

I know my field pretty well that’s why I’m usually one of the best interviwees for every job I just get cucked by people with industry exp
