Conclusion on braces?

I've been thinking about getting myself braces, I have an assymetrical jaw due to my lower and upper teeth not aligning properly. I've read that braces might fuck up my face though, I'm 20 so past the puberty

That’s a shekel backed theory. How would braces make u uglier? Their purpose is literally the exact opposite
