I don't think they do too much, at least not in these pics. Have you ever considered taking carotene supplements though?

It's for skin but it's to help add colouring. In some pics your skin looks a bit grey and ashy so through the use of say carotene + lycopene you can bring a bit of colour to your skin.
Video explanation though with white skin:
If you maxxed out your colouring on darker skin I reckon the tone would be something similar to what you see on a lot of mulattos. That strong robust bronze colour.
