They keep police, corrections officers, construction workers and architects and engineers to build prisons and security guards employed. California and NYPD alone spends more than 30$ billion dollars each on police funding on more half a million police officers. That by itself exceeds the funding and population of police personels in entire countries in europe without them, all those people would lose their jobs and the economy would crash. Not to mention the grave diggers, gun manufacturers, counts and billion dollar drug trade. Blackcel thugs are important for the economy

But all of that is tax money that could have been used by companies to pay for more employees.

Not to mention the loss of jobs because of all the stores that can no longer do business in the area. It's something like 50% of stores have already left NYC.

Then there's the extra cost of stores and other places in security that results in less employees being hired.

Countries where they only cut off a hand of thieves save plenty of money. The judge should just have an axe and as soon as the guilty verdict is read, their head or hand (depending on the punishment) is cut off and they are free to go, if alive.

That would save tax dollars. I realize some innocent people would die, but some innocent people die because of our current criminal justice system.
