Per Wikipedia:
“The cross-race effect (sometimes called cross-race bias, other-race bias, own-race bias or other-race effect) is the tendency to more easily recognize faces that belong to one's own racial group, or racial groups that one has been in contact with.”
In other words, people are generally better at distinguishing the faces of people who belong to the same race as them. Based on my own personal experience, I wonder if this extends to people’s evaluations of someone’s attractiveness - i.e. people who are not the same race as you focus less on your actual facial features and more on your presentation compared to people of your same race
The experience in question: I started out with an ugly face (subhuman level overbite), below average build with decent frame, and garbage personal style. People of all races were pretty shitty towards me. After a few months, I’d made decent progress with my physique and basically fixed my hair and clothes, but obviously my face looked more or less the same. I saw absolutely no improvement in how other whites treated me, but a substantial difference in how non-white people treated me (better grades on more subjective assignments, easier time getting jobs, more politeness, etc). Now, after about a year of healthmaxxing, my face looks marginally better. At this point I’m starting to see a small amount of change in the way other white people treat me but the treatment I get from non-whites has plateaud.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing? Or am I a delusional retard? Would love to hear your thoughts either way
