is one of the last countries on Earth who actually does have freedom of speech. Most countries nowadays that consider themselves to have free speech truly do not. This is obvious from their “hate speech” laws.
Hate speech laws are a serious problem that limits dissent and debate while persecuting an ideological minority by the majority. Even the most disgusting racist piece of shit should be allowed to say whatever the hell they want as long as they are not inciting violence. Who is to say the government won't make criticizing it “hate speech”, you see it has a very slippery slope.
Just look at the Christain preacher and Count Dankula in the UK as examples of unjust persecution by a government over speech. If you are getting arrested for reading religious texts or making a funny youtube video, you don't have freedom of speech. Also, I want to know who these vile racists are and if we create hate speech laws, they just go underground and have no clue who they are. At least with true freedom of speech, you can easily spot these people and start to watch them in case they commit any crimes. If you have no idea who they are, aren’t we all worse off?
