Ok, let me make my case for us getting super intelligent Ai in the next couple decades.

The cost of compute has been going down, for the last 90 years, fairly predictable. There are a number of new technologies on the horizon such as Optical Computing and Quantum computing to continue the decrease in cost.

Total wealth is increasing, which means more money will be spent on Ai.

Recently 500 billion has been spent on compute to train smarter and smarter Ai models.

Agentic Ai is starting to take off this year. This is Ai that can use a computer like a person.

This is an old graph from decades ago. But it's predicted about where we are now. As you can see as compute increases exponentially, it quickly surpasses all human intelligence.

As a thought experiment, imagine the Ai is only as smart as a human. But with more compute it can run thousands of times faster than the human brain. And with existing robots, it can conduct thousands of times more physical real world experiments than humans. This means, a thousand years of human progress can be compressed into a year.

That's great. But compute doesn't stop growing. Humanoid robots (I can write more about those), will be setting up server farms at an exponential pace, as well as advancing quantum computing, so that the next year could be the equivalent of a trillion, or quintillion, a Centillion years of human progress, or more.

It will do whatever we want as long as it's aligned. Which means that many companies and people will give it this task, and it will create solutions for aging, and to keep us safe.

If it's not aligned, we're fucked but there's good good progress on the alignment front imho.
