There is hope only for the living. As they say, “It’s better to be a live dog than a dead lion!”

The living at least know they will die, but the dead know nothing. They have no further reward, nor are they remembered. Whatever they did in their lifetime—loving, hating, envying—is all long gone. They no longer play a part in anything here on earth. So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this! 8 Wear fine clothes, with a splash of cologne!
Live happily with the woman you love through all the meaningless days of life that God has given you under the sun. The wife God gives you is your reward for all your earthly toil. 10 Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave,[b] there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.

11 I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.

12 People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy.

Even the luckiest men alive still often live tragic lives either shortened by an accident or their own self hatred. There is some 130 IQ man in China who codes 10 hours a day that will still earn less then some American hack who fucked around in Uni and landed some meme coding job through connections

Even the luckiest men can die in one small mistake or reduce every good thing they have to nothing

basically the bible verse said regardless of talent or skill you need to be lucky and even those who are lucky are one tragedy away from losing it all I guess in a way you can conclude everyday with food sun light a roof is a lucky day.

Sapience is the biggest gift and most disastrous curse that befell humans

Corpses are incredibly interesting ngl. I always wonder what corpses would look like in their coffins after weeks

Here in Norway there’s been lots of news cases lately where bodies don’t rot away in their graves after decades. (This is due because they delete old graves to make way for new graves). It’s because of the cold soil here

It is the cause of all of mans suffering but it is also the only way forwards. We cannot go back to naive children sadly the only course of action is to keep going no matter how much the pain might increase it is already too late.

“Because of our broken instincts we are in pain. We continue in pain because our instincts have been twisted by reason. So, what are we supposed to do? Should we abandon knowledge? Throw away reason? In any event, that wouldn't be possible. For better or worse, we ate the fruit of knowledge long, long ago.”

Its really fucked up they discard old graves like that, how is that legal or morally allowed in the first place?

Nah not removing graves, only tombstones after like 60+ years after their loved ones also passed if the grave’s not taken care of anymore. But when they dig for graves they find that some of the coffins and bodies haven’t rotted yet when they should have long ago so they can’t dig graves there, sorry for being unclear

Also, it’s pretty weird and crazy to think that everyone you pass on the street will one day be dead. In 90-120 years the world will be populated by entirely new people

Exactly right. It's the reason why the zeitgeist is so different today than when I was a child-- almost all the middle-aged and old people from my childhood are dead, and have been replaced with new people that have different values.
