The most obvious reason is that the general population is ignorant, low iq and easily manipulated.
But that’s not even the worst part:
Different parties are constantly sabotaging each other and often they orchestrate so that a tragedy happens under the government of their opposing party just so they would look bad to the public.
A party’s sole objective is to stay in power, it’s a priority over the well-being of the state. They don’t want good things to happen under the management of their opposition. Even when it would largely benefit the country.
They spend so much money and energy into campaigns and competing against each other, it’s such a waste. And they keep vetoing each other’s decisions, it becomes a nightmare to get anything done with such a divided government.
Another big problem:
They avoid investing in long term solutions for problems and desperately go for shittier quick solutions. Because they want to reap the results of their actions while still in power to claim responsibility and get votes in the next election.
In the current system our politicians have little to no incentive to make long term plans that will yield better results. Even if they wanted to, their party would pressure them into taking the decision that is better for the party, not for the country.
And parties get their money for their campaign from their business allies, allies that need to be compensated after they get in charge of the nation. They start making laws to help these corporations that helped them before instead of being objective and fair.
It’s also not good for a country to keep changing leaders every few years. A nation needs stability, a nation needs a strong fierce leader that is dominant and respected.
Not a leader that is disrespected by half of the population and that keeps getting shit from everyone. How can you be patriotic when your country is so divided?
