Did anyone else grow up without a father?

My dad has mental issues and I only met him 3 times. My childhood was actually great it was only when I became an adult I realised how much this affected me. Shit is hard

I am from ireland my parents dated for a few months because my dad travels a lot for work

still not much better though dublin has a huge somali community

How do you feel having a good father impacted you psychologically what is it actually like

Well when I was knee deep in any situation all I had to do was give my dad a phone call and no matter how busy he was, he would take a leave from his office to come see me in my dorm. I was very close to becoming an alcoholic and my dad stepped in and prevented it from happening.

Beyond that he's spent his entire life grinding not because he had to but because he wanted to give me and my mom the best possible life. Literally has been working for almost 40 years now. He could've retired 10-15 years ago. He was already making good money and had enough savings to retire comfortably, but he kept working, kept investing, kept building. And it paid off. I am in 0 debt, 0 financial stress and no matter what happens my dad has left behind a large inheritance for me. He has already set me up for life tbh.
