My left temple is the only weak point

I'm debating between trying min or just getting a transplant

Dude thats 2 minor for a transplant just hop on minox and fin
I'm 22
On fin and dut

I might get another transplant on a congenital bald spot where I've had two transplants already, and could top up the temple in the same procedure

Been on dut too for 2 months
Ideally would wait another 10 months to see if dut alone thickens temples (it won't), but I'll probably get impatient and end up starting min earlier

they say it does, saw plenty of nordwood ascension video on tiktok (duta alone) . But atm idk, i’ll prolly start too

a minor transplant for the hairline and temples would be great ur already on dut and fin so dont really need to bother with min imo
I don't wanna have to shave my head tbh
Would look like shit and would make the transplant obvious even if I took a week off work

Some places do no shave transplants for minor cases, but risks a worse result

at least dont bother with the topical then, its exhausting

I'm gonna book a consultation next month for:

And I'll ask about the temples, and if they can do no-shave

at least shaving only around the lower area+covering there with hair afterwards could work couldnt it?

When I had my previous transplants for near the crown, they only shaved the donor area and my hair covered it

If they shave around the temple it may be possible to cover it up like this

But depends on how much is shaved

Yes but the cycle for your scalp is around a decade; as soon as you stop taking it, it will all shed out.

Hairs grown on min will shrink again without min, but wouldn't have thickened in the first place without it

So u can try min and if it works, continue it. Foam doesn't seem like such a hassle

I'm just delaying it cos I wanna see if I get any thickening with dut, and could consider a transplant instead

That’s what I’m saying. A foam is fine. Topicals are much more variable than most believe so you may need some penetrating vehicle if your scalp is not a fan.

What do u think about just getting a transplant tbh? On fin and dut it's unlikely I'll recede more

Min could work, but still means u need to remember to apply everyday, if ur on a trip or something. And if topical min doesn't work, then what? I suppose I could try topical min and see, and then get a transplant if it doesn't work. Seems preferable to get a transplant over oral min or experimenting with expensive greasy topicals like RU

Hair transplant would do it, yeah. You would effectively just need to carry on with some 5ARi and you should be fine.

Minoxidil really isn’t feasible for scalp hair long-term. I mean, you’d need a couple growth cycles at least and no one is taking it orally for 20 years or so; much less applying a penetrating vehicle with a topical form of minoxidil too.

It is preferable to get a transplant, absolutely so.

Interesting
I do have hairs there, they are just fine and light. Wondering if they transplant over those follicles and how the end result would compare to if you did manage to get regrowth with treatment

Regrowth using topicals or even orals is quite tough and needs to be done very early. You should be fine. Many note how just taking a 5ARi had seemingly regrown their hair; it seems that the hair was on its way out and the 5ARi saved it at its last breath.

Doesn’t look like anything of concern so long as you continue with your dut usage. You would likely see some recovery too.

Quite the situation
I'm 22 so don't want any signs of receding
Torn between waiting/adding something else, and getting a transplant. I'm considering a transplant on another area, which isn't AGA, and could potentially get temples done with it. Just don't want to have to shave the head and have people know

Also depends on whether a surgeon would do a transplant there at my age. But I am on treatment

How long have you been on a 5ARi? That’s a good place to start. If you cannot see results from it after a fair time, you may want to consider a transplant more seriously, but I highly doubt that is the case.

For now, just keep up with dutasteride and you should be fine. Any sign of it getting worse and you can get a transplant. It’s the most normie procedure there is; no one would care.

Started fin in Feb 2023, but was on very low doses, like 0.25 mg every 2 or 3 days, and even stopped for a few weeks, cos I was considering beard development

Been on 1 mg everyday since November 2024. Been on 0.5 mg dut alongside it since June

Yeah, just give it time. That first year and a bit really isn’t a whole lot to be considered. You are safe on .5mg dutasteride realistically. You’ll very likely see some perceived regrowth.

I've yet to really see any cases of temple regrowth with just dut tho

Everyone who claims it never shows evidence

I’ve seen it with RU a lot. People seem to claim they didn’t notice regrowth until adding RU. It does seem a bit shilly and too many variables are at play to label it as only RU, but I’ve saw perceived dut regrowth alone before as well. It isn’t that uncommon.

The only ones I've ever seen on Reddit may have "dutasteride results" in the title, but then go on to say they were using min

As for ru, even less. Seems like a meme and sketchy. I'm sure it works somewhat, but idk about temple regrowth
