Before Trump's tariff announcement against Canada, Polivere had a sustained 20 point lead over the liberals and was headed towards a landslide victory.

This lead was completely eradicated over night once Trump targeted Canada with tariffs.

Would it be fair to say that Trump inadvertently won it for the liberals?

Canadians discuss.
Was Carney really much of a political campaigner or did he just ride on a wave of ideal circumstances for a resurgence?

Pretty clear he single handedly did what none of the Liberals could do. They forgot about mass immigration the moment Trump opened his mouth

Also a lot of international conservatives are just too aligned with Trump.
The Conservatives should be better at harnessing Canadian nationalism than the liberals but it totally backfired.

Carney is a lightweight too.
He wasn't rated as governor of the Bank of England.

The problem with Pierre is that he is viewed as Trump's admirer. No conservative in Canada wants to have a backbone and advocate for a nationalistic stance while being against the 51st state discourse

It's ironic because I got the sense that Polivere was more of an actor than a genuine convert to "Canada First" anyway.
The whole thing was very artificial which makes it even funnier.

I'm not saying Trump much cares either way. I think it was unintentional.

It's inevitable that the Liberals will get swept aside at some point. The attritional realities of being in power for four terms are too much even for a competent government.

I suspect Carney will have a short lived honeymoon and that the conservative landslide was merely delayed, not averted.

Exactly, they only care about the money, they dont have no real values

Most politicians are all dirty inside traders, specifially the dirty bitch nancy pelosis!! (I dont hate her, i admire how smart she is)

Once trump did something against them, they all were crying like little bitches 😆😆

I think that's true to some extent but a lot of politicians are already filthy rich and just want the prestige of the position as well.

Pelosi actually used her husband to conduct insider trading for her.

The high level of propaganda and fear mongering, terrorists attacks against tesla buildings, lawyers trying to stop him decisions

They are all trying to stop him , our retribition will be clear. We will stomp those rats, all of them

An interesting theory. It is impossible for a casual observer like myself that lives in the US, to have an opinion though since I am not exposed to Canadian media and discourse. It has long been funny to me that Canadians care so much about US politics, but few Americans give 2 shits about Canadian politics.
If the answer to your questions is yes, a follow up question would be, was that a mistake by Trump or the plan. It might be in the long term best interest of the US for liberals to control Canada, as the oppressive policies of the Liberals will act as a foretelling of liberal policies in the US.

Yup.

As soon as Trump started spouting retarded takes about making Canada a state, I knew it would be downhill from there.

Even Jordan Peterson couldn’t come out and say it was dumb. Pathetic.

Canadians care because 75% of their exports go to the US. It’s economic and your cultural influence is overwhelming.

Trump is a cancer to many Right Wing movements in general despite also having diehard supporters who will die for him.

There's literally protests all over America against Trump.

And Hispanics were trending Rightward until Trump started pushing mass deportations of even innocent workers with no criminality. Now, you got Hispanics protesting Trump despite how many votes they casted for him.

Ted Cruz had a conspiracy a while back that Trump was a plant sent by the Clintons to destroy the Right's reputation. While I do think Trump is genuine and an actual American nationalist, he's sorta doing what the conspiracy entails.

Because Trump’s nationalism is America first which means every other country second.

Nationalist movements have to carve out their own stratosphere which is separate from Trump.

Didn't know there were conservatives in canada.

There aren’t. They’re conservatives in name only.
Didn't realize that. I'm not to far interested in canadian politics. However, even american conservatives are getting more softer. For example compare the conservatives of today, and of 1930's.

Of course, Bill Clinton from the 1990s was more right wing than Trump.

The liberals of today are the conservatives of tomorrow.

Canadians are so retarded man
Our country has the worst economic growth of any developed country in the last decade, our richest province is poorest than the poorest state in the US, we are now closer to the average Mexican in wealth than the average American (and doing far worse than Mexico in terms of economic growth). We are legitimately a 3rd world country but voted for that again because orange man bad jfl
Trump needs to offer political asylum/refugee status to any Canadian who wants to leave, would look pretty terrible for Canada when hundreds of thousands of young people leave immediately, I would the very day that was announced jfl

Fixed it for you. Great, another wave of single young males entering the US. I would like to know the gender breakdown as to who voted Conservative or Liberal in this election, probably similar to US with far more men voting conservative

Probably, the biggest divide may be age though. Most young people vote Conservative and most boomers vote Liberal, which would be pretty hilarious to tell someone from 10 years ago when it seemed like young people were all super woke and old people were conservative.

This is one of the funniest charts:

Because boomers already have a good standard of living.
The pensions system is a redistribution of wealth from the young to the old.

Lmao do you actually think any ACTUAL conservatives opinion would sway after trump said Canada would become the 51st state?

Regardless if trump won or not liberals, would still win.

Who would have thought the influx of mass immigrants you imported would vote for your party 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
