A retracted chin is characterized by an indentation of the chin, which is the lower portion of the jaw bone. The recessed mandible refers to a posterior positioning of the mandible bone in relation to its ideal position. In other words, recessed jaw is a condition where the jaw is shorter than normal.

you have to see it in relation to the other ratios of your Lower and the size of your skull other ratios of the face in general, that's why it's idiotic for people to go out recommending Bimax here without an X-ray you don't know if it's recess or your ratios face and fat also impacts a lot.
