Disgusting Nose Falio: Recessed Nostril Placement (Aesthetics of the Nostril Base)

Aesthetics of the Nostril Base

Recessed Nostril Placement Is an Under-Discussed and Underrated Nose Falio

The trait of having forward-set nostrils is rarely if ever discussed in this community. But it’s important for nose aesthetics. In this thread, I’ll explain what looks good and what looks bad, and the shortcomings of rhinoplasty and bimax procedures when it comes to nostril aesthetics.

Aesthetic Caucasoid nose viewed from the bottom up:

1752791067403

Aesthetic Ideal: Forward-Set Nostrils Separated from the Philtrum

1752791141661
1752791164308
1752791429080

Their nostrils are forwards on the nose; their nostrils don’t “rest” directly on their philtrums.

Here’s a 3D model I made to clearly illustrate the geometry of this nostril base type:

1752793020439

Unaesthetic Subhumanity: Nostrils that Rest Directly on the Philtrum

1752791345386
1752791150568
1752791172158

Their nostrils aren’t set forwards on the nose; their nostrils directly border their philtrums.

Here’s a 3D model I made to clearly illustrate the geometry of this nostril base type:

1752792890696

Ethnicity

Caucasoids have the most forward-set nostrils and have the highest prevalence of the aesthetic “separated” nostril base type. But all races can have either type of nostril base. Nostril base definition is a continuously variable trait in humans.

For example, here are 2 black women: the person on the left has the 1st type of nostril base, and the person on the right has the 2nd type of nostril base.

1752793204505

So now you know the difference between the 2 kinds of nostril bases. A defined nostril base with nostrils set forwards off of the philtrum is more aesthetically pleasing than a flush nostril base with nostrils directly resting on the philtrum.

The Bimax/LF1 Issue

1752793608968

As seen in the above before and after, Le Fort 1 osteotomy “squishes” the maxilla against the back of the nose, which may make the nostril base look worse. This is an item of concern for East Asian patients and people who already had bad nostril bases to start with. Like this guy:

I’m not knowledgeable about rhino, so I don’t know if it’s a limitation of what’s possible with rhinoplasty, or if it’s an aesthetic oversight (patients and surgeons not knowing what they need to look best). If anyone knows whether it’s feasible to advance the nostrils farther forwards off the philtrum, please reply.

How Much Does Nostril Base Matter?

Nostril base is underrated and not talked about enough. But it’s far from the biggest deal when it comes to nose aesthetics.

Many people have dogshit-looking noses with forward nostril bases. Like this guy:

You invented a term for what reason? You're a smart guy, but this is just a classic example of either ...

#1 a genetically flat maxilla + flat anterior nasal spine

#2 a flat maxilla caused by epigenetic factor,s and likewise for their anterior nasal spine

Yes, of course, having no maxilla is a shitty trait, also I don't want people to automatically assume then every Asian has a nose like this. You can still have a visibly flat maxilla, but that maxilla is around how forward grown you where meant to be, not causing this sort of sunken in nose appearence

Asian's CAN be forward grown to the most that nature allows them and still possess this trait if their lower-maxilla and cheekbones simply protrude further outwards then their maxilla + anterior nasal whatever the fuck btw

I don’t think this is only a bone-related issue. The nostril base is more of a soft tissue structure.

Isn't it just recessed upper maxilla? As I know asian rhinoplasty only elongates the nose tip.

To have forward grown nostrils you js need the forward grown LF2(minus LF1) area.

But i don't even know how do you fix that. Because lefort 2 is too extreme. Can it possible be corrected with midface implants?

woman with insane nostril base yet recessed lf2 area. shit forehead/supras/nose bridge. ANS / incissor inclination ratio and soft tissue plays a big role among other things. Some clinics are catching up, idk what they are doing tho since ANS implants don't give that huge of a result

nvm I get what you mean now, I thought you were talking about nostril horizontal lenght + base setness in relation to maxilla, i'm a bit high rn:lul: it's just called nostril sills and some niggas just remove it, others augment it. anyways both things can be changed. there's patterns to it too, and number 3 looks the best to me

The reason that most trans men can't pass is so fascinating. It's such a tiny face of an object as a component of the forehead in between the eyes that signals that you're male. People see it everyday yet have no idea that such a small piece of bone plays a indispensable role in correct identification of sex. This small absence or presence bony prominence determines if you will have a male face or a female face regardless of attractiveness. Masculinity and femininity are distinct topics from what this is (that I must find a name for).

And it's present in male children too. It is the way that we know the sex of prepubescent faces: I suspect that prenatal testosterone may factor into it. In our facilities of facial recognition, this is the most potent clue among 'sex indicators'; that is it is impossible for a transgender man to pass if its on their forehead and almost every XY human does have it.
