They talk about how Communists have killed 100 million people yet still don't question the alliance of the US with Communism in World War 2.

The US saved Communism. If not for US intervention the National Socialists would have eradicated Communism.
But Germany declared war on America and was allied with Japan who attacked America. It was impossible for the US to not fight Germany in this situation.
The US baited Japan into attacking them so they could join the war. The US had placed an embargo on Japan and had frozen Japanese assets- crippling Japan's economy. The US had effectively launch an economic war against Japan before Pearl Harbor. Also before Pearl Harbor happened the US saved the Soviet Union by giving them billions in aid and weapons. Without US aid and weapons the Soviet Union would have collapsed long before Pearl Harbor.

Yes, because Germany was seen as a greater danger. Stalin was a mass murderer, but at that time his army was weak and he didn't plan to attack the big powers (US, UK, France) like Germany did.
