One thing that shocked me to learn about Japanese people is how they are extremely obsessed with the smallest details of any protocol they have
Like for example if in the menu of a restaurant it says "cup of coffee with 2 spoons of sugar" and you tell them "add one more" they won't do it and will stand like a bugged NPC, and small schizo stuff like that.
Imagine being the first japanese that breaks that cycle. In fact i understand them, the only japanese that broke it was the emperor when he gave up to the americans, they must be still traumatized
