Symptoms of Autism I Relate With:
  • Being anxious about meeting new people.
  • Occasionally stutter and stumble over my words during public speaking and social situation
  • Finding it difficult to make new friends and deeper connections
  • Finding it difficult to say something cunning on the spot (I will often say “Yes” or nod along)
  • Having an unusual way of speaking (Have had speech problems since childhood)
  • Sometimes takes things too literally or fail to understand sarcasm
  • Being unable to laugh when expected to or laughter being disingenuous (Ex: A funny kid in class says a joke)
  • Having trouble smiling or showing enthusiasm (See Above)
  • Struggling with hand-eye coordination
  • Difficulty following directions (Ex: During science experiments)
  • Being introverted and not initiating conversations
Symptoms of Autism I Don’t Relate With:
  • Easily able to make eye contact
  • Find it easy to read social cues and understand how people are thinking or feeling
  • Doesn’t get anxious if a routine changes
  • Not upset by others touching me or getting close to me
  • Doesn’t have sensory overload issues (Ex: Capable of dealing with loud noise)
  • Doesn’t have tics or fidgets
  • Being able to read the room and understand social norms (Ex: Not talking over people or not talking loudly when the expectation is to be quiet)
  • Doesn’t notice small details, patterns, smells, or sounds that others do not
  • Not having a keen interest in certain subjects or activities
It's like a 50/50 chance that I have high-functioning autism or not. Please respond! I go back in forth with this because some days I feel NT, while some days I make social mistakes.

You don't relate to this? I thought everyone on here would jfl.

I think the best test of autism (what matters, at least) is:
1. Can you come off as normal to people in most conversations
2. Can you read other peoples emotions in day to day situations

If you can do both of those, then you're fine. Maybe you're awkward at times with showing emotion but you at least meet the bare minimum. If you can't then over jfl.

I can do both, but I feel like I'm masking sometimes. Nobody in my surroundings (friends/family/classmates/teachers) has suggested that I have autism, except one therapist a year ago

Masking is exhausting, especially after working long days; your façade lets loose.
When I'm feeling energetic, I can seem to be outgoing and enthusiastic, but once I lose an ounce of energy, I shy away from people and become aloof.

Funny thing is It was my first day at a new job, and everything was going fine at first. Though 8 in my sperg began to release, and I ended up ruining my previous impression. I quit today.

But yes op, this is pretty autism.
It's over for us man. NTs have inbuilt autism detectors. I can seem NT for a whole day, but the slightest social mistake leads them to know that I'm autistic

@Dendritic I think the reason why I wasn't diagnosed for so long was because I was always a good student. I'm sure NTs noticed it, but they thought that he'll get over it because he's smart or it only affects him a little bit. Also, do you feel NT around family or close friends? The conversation flows for me at least when I'm with people I know because of less anxiety

The key defining aspect of autism is an inability to pick up on social cues. If you understand social cues well, you are just an overthinker/neurotic and not autistic. It’s the inability to pick up on social cues that makes autistic people disliked by others.

Eh, I know some Aspies online that claim they can pick up social cues because they have keen attention to detail. Also, would this count as picking up on social cues? Today I was talking to this foid and I felt I was talking too much, so I stayed silent for a bit to let her lead the conversation.

The most common symptoms of autism are a strong emphasis on a rigid routine, and an inability to understand social cues. You probably just have ADHD, anxiety, depression, or are just prone to overthinking in general. It’s easy to recognize autism when you see it.
