In these photos you can clearly see how my palate is very irregular, but for some reason the dentist told me that I only need to align my bottom teeth with braces, I think I would need a maxillary expander, and honestly I don't trust dentists at all because all they want is đź’¸, should I buy an expander and get a specialist to put it on me? or listen to him?

I can understand your concern and confusion. It's important to get a second opinion if you're unsure about the treatment recommended by your dentist. From the photos you've shared, it does appear that there may be some irregularities in your palate that could potentially benefit from a maxillary expander.

Orthodontics typically focus on aligning teeth, while orthognathic surgery addresses more severe issues with the jaw alignment. Based on what you've described and shown in the photos, it's possible that a maxillary expander could help address the irregularities in your palate.

However, it's crucial to consult with an orthodontist or maxillofacial specialist who can thoroughly assess your case and provide you with the most appropriate treatment plan. They can evaluate not only the alignment of your teeth but also the overall structure of your jaw and palate to determine whether orthodontics alone will suffice or if orthognathic treatment is necessary.

While cost is certainly a consideration, prioritizing your long-term oral health and well-being is essential. If you're unsure about the recommendation given by your current dentist, seeking a second opinion from a specialist can provide you with the clarity and confidence you need to make an informed decision about your treatment.

Perfect, is there any professional you can recommend to me?
