As I wear retainers every night as a 16yo will my palate not grow because the retainers are keeping it the same

I got invisalign thinking it would help but expanded my dental arches so I lost support of my maxilla and mandible causing me to recess a bit. Im currently in custom refinements and my arches are being put back to normal.

braces are better at fixing misalignment, overbite , underbite + they cheaper
palate expander in my knowledge doesnt rape your maxilla, widens it can cause a huge teeth gap if your palate is giga narrow

I'm in the exact same situation boa but let me tell you what I've done.
Rather than waiting for retainers to keep my teeth in place and prohibit any forward growth or help bone movement, I have just decided to stop wearing them and continue with normal processes. As before the retainers my teeth are still fucked, I still have an overbite, asymmetric jaw, and the left side of my teeth are floating when I bite down.
Three entire years of orthodontics to have a fucked up jaw and teeth? No thanks...
I recommend asking your orthodontist about these issues on your next visit as I never did due to my naiveness, when the orthodontist asked if I was okay with my teeth now, I said 'I guess?', but in reality I had absolutely zero clue. In those three years I did not even bat an eye towards the formation of my teeth or jaw until after they were removed, but it was too late. I was furious.
In conclusion, I just recommend weighing the options out yourself to see wether or not it's worth it.
