Trust me you would be wayyyy more depressed down south. I really don't know how some people survive here. When I go up north yes its is 'poorer' because there is less development, lower wages, less infrastructure, dead town centre etc. But people own houses, own cars and not living paycheck to paycheck.

One of the main problems with this country is people want to live in these glorified shitholes (i.e. London). This creates a situation where people can't get jobs without moving there as well.

This doesn't just apply to London. I am from the north and things are not so great here. Our wages have been stagnant for decades while pretty much everything has shot up in price and stayed there. Quality of life isn't so great up here. Most people are just getting by, 40k after tax isn't that much even in the north where things are obviously cheaper than London. 2 bed house to rent is like 900 and even this is quite hard to obtain because there's an active housing crisis due to mass immigration. If you're paying that much just to rent a house, then bills, food, etc all the while you are barely making like 1500 after tax because our wages are so dogshit, what's the point in any of it? I do agree that if you have an actual career and are making around 3k/month after tax then you are going to have a comfy lifestyle in the north. However, most people are not making that or anywhere near it, infact most are making half that.
I am seeing an unreal amount of chinese, south asian, and african immigrants coming here in the past 3-4 years, it's fucking over.
