After looking into myself and other people, im refusing to believe orthos gaf ab us, i have sfs, and my ortho NEVER said anything about it ever, plus since i have that, my palate isnt so full, but never gave me expanders, instead they removed teeth, my ex had a really recessed maxilla, and a somewhat under bite, and the ortho never said jackshit to her, she never even know until i told her, my mom also has sfs, and they never told her anything, my dads palate is also fucked, mse? palate expander? no several tooth extractions…
and countless other people here ive seen have gotten screwed by orthos

when you go to doctors, dentists or orthos you need to already know what your diagnosis is and what would be your best treatment, otherwise they will botch you or ruin your health with some jewish treatment

after you properly diagnose yourself go to proper specialist and talk with him like unqualified overgrown toddler who's licenced and had some practice to do the treatment that you need

Yes, orthos generally do care. There's not much he can do about your SFS.
It's a craniofacial problem, not dental one.
The constant shitting on orthodontists here is wrong. They treat dental problems.
It's like expecting a dermatologist to treat a cardiac condition.

people are really protective over orthos, but the fact is that they are only one step more qualified than blood letters and lobotomists 100 years ago

It's not their fault that patients suffer from craniofacial defects.
they do care, but never gave my mom, or dad a expander, or recommended a mse?

Neither of those would fix your SFS. Only a downgraft of the maxilla from orthognathic surgery would address it.
That's the issue with many users here. They misdiagnose the problem, self-subscribe solutions and then shit on the orthodontist for not playing along with it.

my dad doesn’t have sfs, he couldve been saved with a expander, wouldve removed his horrible crowding

Back to the actual topic of the thread. What could your orthodonist do about SFS?
technically not much but they could apply devices as i researched that can guide ur jaw, and better prep it for future surgery

Exactly. You're expecting too much from orthodontists. They work with the teeth - not jaws.
Jaw movements are not within their purview unless we're talking about young children under the age of 12.

Orthodontists will do proper co-ordination if/when you decide to do surgery.

Because it's a craniofacial problem -not a dental one.

Orthodontists deal with teeth. They can't move the jaws. They can (up to a point) correct your occlusion, address overcrowding and that's about it.

If you went to a maxillofacial surgeon, you would get a proper diagnosis

The education around craniofacial problems is pretty terrible but it's not entirely the fault of orthodontists.
They treat the symptoms of craniofacial problems while surgeons address the underlying problem.

You either get a referral from an orthodontist or just book an appointment directly with a surgeon.
