Do people look taller from a far ?

I mean I can see people from far away and they look huge but the closer I am I realize they aren't that tall. Is this a real phenomena?

my short man complex from my youth combined with people looking taller from far away and my shit vision makes me think every person is 7 inches taller than me but its a totally different story when i stand next to them.
