Do premolar extractions ACTUALLY recess bones in the face, or is it just less full lips

I am having 4 premolar extractions before braces, following my palatal expander I had fitted a few months ago. I am 14, and currently have an OK maxilla and mandible, no overbite or underbite. I have seen MANY posts online saying that they will retract my jaw, causing maxillary and mandibular recensions, but I have asked several AI's to clarify this for me, all telling me that it does NOT lead to recessions and that I don't need to fear anything. I am asking this for clarity, and to know whether there are any alternatives that I could look into.

no point in extracting, even if you don't have money for a palate expander, might aswell be stuck with your situation until you get a job.
