Neither can make up for the other if one of them is really bad. Personally I think being a manlet is more of a failo than being ugly, at least as a tall LTN you can still be intimidating and masculine, and you meet the basic "he must be taller than me" criterion, but on the other hand there are short celebs thirsted over by women (Zac Efron, Justin Bieber, prime Cruise, etc.), there are no tall ugly celebs with anywhere near the same appeal. So I guess a way to frame it is "would the average woman prefer a chadlet or tall borderline-truecel?".
