Do you need a low taper broccoli haircut if you live in UK?

I have long shoulder length hair that I tie in a manbun when I out and I get stared at a ton, people react very negatively to my appearance and I'm wondering if it's because manbuns aren't common in UK outside of the big cities, I could just be coping tho, but I kinda feel like you need to have a low taper fade to even be considered as human here
