So I’m in the process of getting a rhinoplasty for my triply deformed nose (bifid-boxy tip, deviated septum, dorsal hump). This morning I went to an ENT (ear, nose, throat) doctor to see if insurance can help pay for it.

As he was looking at my nose he commented how my left cheekbone and jaw are more prominent. It’s funny because this is the exact thing that sent me down the face and black pill rabbit hole over 6 years ago now, I became obsessed with the asymmetry. But no one at any point, not in real life or in pictures, ever commented on it, until now. And this was a doctor, not some black pilled surgeon.

I remember around 2019 looking into one of those trapezoidal mirrors at a department store and thinking my only facial flaw that’s that noticeable is the asymmetry. But partially because nothing can be done about it, it doesn’t bother me anymore. Now I can’t even catch my reflection or shadow without the fucking bifid tip screaming at me, I need it off my face asap.

An orthodontist first pointed out my asymmetry. I was coping so hard I couldn't even see it before that. Ever since then, every surgeon I've seen has pointed it out. It's so significant that blue-pilled doctors are pointing it out :lul: . Inverted filter on Discord/Zoom/TikTok has killed my confidence.

Is there any surgery to alleviate the asymmetry?

@ey88 I mean like noticeable ones like jaw or eye position maybe

do "myo" Oscar Patel on instagram talks a lot about it. You basiaclly stick your thumbs outside your upper molars but in your mouth and push up and outwards lightly. Basically massaging the area.

It can be fixed with surgery but if your cheekbone and jaw are asymmetric there is chance that is muscle asymmetry due to uneven bite force check that.

I talked to an orthodontist about it in 2019 but he just laughed it off. I got my wisdom teeth removed earlier this year but only on my right side, there was enough room for them on my left side which is extremely robust.

And ya, that’s the hardest part about being asymmetrical, the more asymmetrical you are, the further away you are from what you see in the mirror. And then the familiarity effect compounds this. So sometimes I wonder things like if I’m underestimating how much I’ve aged because I’m so used to seeing my face in the mirror one way that’s not real.

Is there any surgery to alleviate the asymmetry?

Not quite because in my case and maybe a lot of other people’s it’s the entire skull that’s asymmetrical, including the parietal bone. Basically if my skull was a clock it grew with the hour hand at like 12:15 instead of straight forwards. Any implants or filler would imitate growth that’s faulty so I feel like I’d risk looking uncanny. Facial asymmetry is normal, it’s my nose that’s not normal and the only hardmaxxing I feel like I need.
