I wrote off ever getting a HT because I’m not willing to take fin but today I went to a doctor and he told me I have strong donor hair and a hair transplant will work fine without finasteride.

did your hair loss got worse in the last few years? if no there is some chance that it will stay the same like for next x years (hope many years) but if it got visibly worse in the last few years its a terrible idea to do a HT even if you have good donor area..

You don't need fin or any similar drug. Get the HT, if couple years down the line you have some thinning behind the transplanted hairs, you can just get another small minor amount of grafts to fill in the area. It certainly beats chemically castrating yourself with fin. Good job, i personally know a few people IRL who got HT without fin and they look fine.
