does anyone here cut their own hair

Im trying to grow mine out but need to trim it, it cant be that hard to do w scissors right? like just run some texture shears thru it and cut the sides overlapping my ears

does anyone else do this? i dont feel like paying for a haircut

I do it but i use the same machine the barbers use (idk the name in english)
Honestly only works if you plan on either doing it sparringly or every day, anything in between and it's just better to have the barber do it

not really tried it, if you plan on doing it you should probably copy what the barber does
so wet your hair then use a comb to pull your hair up and cut, to me that's a bit too risky and complicated to do it nicely the first few times
it's probably a skill that's useful, you might fuck up the first few times but after a while you might start saving money on the barber

I do cut my own hair do layers search tutorial for them so basically you grab a section of your hair that are different lengths due to different position on your skull and you cut horizontally making your hair layer and make it texturized and with volume for taking weight off don't do it on wet hair since you will take too much because when the hair it's wet the longer strands start combining and making it seem longer than it is.
To remove the weight you cut with thinning scissors

first pic is before it was really thick and i asked my friend to make it messy on purpose when cutting so u can def get even more volume out but he just trimmed and used shears and my hair was good i just didnt know how to style
