I think it does. Noticed when I went to the gym my face was much leaner especially after working out. But after that I come back drink caffeine it seems to bloat my face for most of the midday making me hate myself even more. So is there any evidence that it does? Or am I delusional? I’ve been drinking a can of bang btw only one it contains zero of everything except caffeine and some artificial sweeteners which are apparently not shit for you. It has like 300mg I think.

It's supposed to be a diuretic.

Isn't caffeine a sort of diuretic 🤔

Keep everything else the same and then take out the energy drink and see what happens.

What does this entail exactly. Apparently a diuretic is supposed to make you pee more which it definitely does. So maybe it’s not the caffeine specifically but the fact I’m peeing more means I’ll have less water in my system, which could cause water retention. Idk

Some people bloat from artifical sweeteners.

Cortisol also increases water retention, which isn't usually a problem with caffeine since it's a diuretic, but then again, people can genetically have different responses to caffeine. It's why some people can intake caffeine an hour before bed and still sleep fine, while others will have interrupted sleep taking it too late in the afternoon.

Personally, I'd guess you're not lean enough. I do all the things that most people attribute to bloat (400 gs of carbs/day, 5000+ mgs of sodium, 10 gs of creatine/day) but due to leanness never retain excess water

I am pretty lean, around 13% body fat. I have hollow cheeks especially in gym lighting and decent definition. Like there are prominent bones there, I may just need to get to 10% body fat.

No

I'm just lean, and very disciplined to eating at maintenance calories, and always going back into a deficit the next day if I overeat.

im 13% but on trt, if im lower carb(mornings obviously) I can see my cheekbones just itching to come out, personally if I can see them when I have the front camera on then they will defo show on 10%, that trt test is most likely holding a little more water so I will need to go down to 10% to fully take advantage of my facial aesthetics

necro thread but yes...for some people it bloats them. always was curious why i look good and bad on some days even though i allready cut most sugar/heavy carb foods then quikly realised - i drink tons of coffe/dietkola/monster energy drinks - as soon as i got rid of them - finally got content with my looks.

having subhuman gut micromiome is a curse.

How much caffeine was it approximately

for me even 1 monster can is nuff for bloating- they say it contains 36g of caffeine. some enrgy drinks have 80-100g. cola zero 35g

I replaced all of that with chicory coffee which contains close to 0 caffeine. cant live without that shit.

The max limit is 400mg of caffeine a day. Most energy drinks are around 140-200 grams. Coffee is like 50

I've heard that caffeine mimics thyroid hormone. If that's the case, then if you don't get enough carbohydrate, you'll end up running on stress hormones. Stress hormones will bloat you
