I'm currently a high school student still trying to figure out what career I can do to make money, and i found out about coding. i realized that it might be fun, so i started learning a coding language (c++),

Over the past month, I've learned a little bit of coding, and I've gotten pretty good for a beginner.
I just want to know if coding is a good long-term career or if the job market is too bad for coding and I should find something else to study

yep it does don't listen to the doomers that say A.I will replace programmers/coders, spend some time with it and you should be able to know if you're cut for it

also check this out if you haven't seen it yet (https://roadmap.sh/)

It can pay but you need talent, passion or both. Gone are the easy days

yes just travel back in time to 2015

Coding in the traditional sense, as in graduating and getting a job that's cs heavy, is dying (imo it's already dead). It's a difficult and hyper-competitive space that you will need to sell your soul for. Is it valuable as a skill? Yes, almost indispensable, knowing how to code, the theory behind it, and how it works in the background is vital in practically any moderate IQ jobs. You probably won't become the best coder or even the top 30% but if you combine it with other disciplines it's yields are huge. + you can leverage it to improve your qol by automating some tasks you find tedious or using it for personal projects.

it really depends on the person and what you intend to use it for

by the age of 13/14 I was a coding autist and made what is still my primary source of income to this day

I also have friends that make $100K+/year from normal programming jobs and they work from home

AI is going to replace everything realistically, ofcourse there's some nuance but let's not pretend coding is the primary target

also most modern day programmers are using AI to their advantage rather than letting themselves fall behind, so i'd keep that in mind
performing tasks that are otherwise tedious

yeah im with that, im all for using AI to human advantage, to a degree of course, but now graphic design is obsolete, art and film will be the first to go
