i hit 2k elo on lichess with 0 formal training/ opening theory but then started to play casually during school breaks bus etc and regressed hard back to 1.7k lost interest and deleted app. But watching old games and understanding what lead to a move is still unbelievably satisfying, my favourite players include nezhmedinov , tal (ofc), fischer, maxwell, anand , kasparov. Dont like this generation of chess/follow it tho as I agree w fischer chess is past its golden era everyone is just regurgitating theory now and its less accessible to laymans why a move/string of moves are played
