Does gender dysphoria ever go away?

I have been suffering from it for about a year now and just recently began to do things such as shave my legs and were thigh highs when my parents are out, I go through weird fazes where I want to be a women but after a while I go back to wanting to be a man, I wonder what causes this mental illness and if it ever goes away. My friend said if I have it I need to transition asap bc it won’t ever go away and I’ll kms when I’m 30, but others said they had it and it went away with age

I think confidence is how you manage it. Had a GF in 9th grade into weird paraphilias, and I had no father figure, definitely influenced me towards femininity and wanting to be female cuz she was into crossdressing among other things. I have simply ignored it, strived towards masculinity, and tried to feel good about masculinity. Definitely relate to the fluctuating aspect. Sometimes I feel like I want to be a woman and sometimes I do not at all. I feel like I have mild body dysmorphia as well, it's definitely connected to that.

I don't think it ever truly goes away, but it can be managed.
