Doesn't matter at all, just make sure you're not missing any exams or assessments that go towards your final grade. Also prob a good idea to try catch up on the work if your course is hard

depends on your iq i had like 30-40% attendance last year and got a 2:1

No clue about mechanical engineering sorry.

For me I can skip first 3 weeks and come up with an excuse that I had something going on at home at 4th week. Make sure u do ur assignments.

fist ones really make a hit difference?
i started out as a math major then switched to philosophy because i was too lazy for math then double majored in CS because I got unlazy towards the end of my ~7 years in undergrad

it's not that you need to go to the first 3 weeks. i routinely skipped many many classes. it's just not a good attitude to have. you should put 100% into your studies, either that or drop out

i'm just saying, in retrospect i wish i would have tried harder
