Obviously when it comes to dating, it does, but what about friends?
For some background info, im out of shape. Not like obese, but fat enough to the point where my dad told me one day that I need to watch what I eat. I try to be nice, and people will reciprocate. The problem is, people will only be nice to me for so long before they start distancing themselves. The few friends I made started ignoring me or only hang out with people they've known for years, and I'm starting to feel like an outcast again. I hate to say it, but I feel like if I was attractive and thin (I'm already tall), it would be so much easier to be social and make friends. Someone might even start dating me.

Maybe initially, but its not that crazy in the long run. Guy friends aren't like girls. Them not hanging with you most probably is because of something else.

absolutely, looks have an affect on just about everything in life and friends are no exception. from my personal experience people used to treat me way worse (not just romantically) when i was obese, once i lost the fat though people came and approached me and started talking as if i was now on their level rather than below them like when i was fat.

I should also mention that im in high school. It seems like most guys around me play sports and only want to hang out with other men who do the same. Im more into gaming, but even those kinds of guys seem to dislike me. Like you said, its probably something else. This is my first year too, so I guess I'm still new?

Oh yea i remember high school. Easiest option is to be friends with the "social outcasts" (not that that's what I did I was in the fencing team) but yea, they tend to play video games too so perhaps you can find a game you both can play together and connect that way.

Similarities in lifestyle influence much more who youre friends are. Im unemqployed and my close friends who i talk everyday have like a 60% unemployed rate. Also only one of my friends is htn if he would be able to properly groom himself
