Metformin inhibits mTOR which is one of the main pathways through which you grow and reduce igf-1 levels, so yes.
That's why it's a relatively popular drug in the anti-aging community (both igf-1 (past puberty) and mTOR have a negative impact on aging if too high/activated).
Berberine does reduce igf-1 too but it's significantly less potent than metformin, you could try chromium picolinate+ALA which shouldn't have a huge negative impact on your igf-1 levels while reducing your blood sugar levels, if not enough use berberine (the reduction in serum igf-1 isn't that drastic anyway) and if it's still not enough just give up.
