Does traditional braces recess?

So I've been wondering, does traditional braces recess during puberty? I've had traditional braces for over a decade I've had them for about 6-8 years I think. I think they were needed because I had a massive overbite and 1 finger gap in my front teeth before I got them. They are getting removed next month. I am 15 right now. Do they recess or is it just Cope? I'm kinda worried because I don't want my "potential" to be just wasted. I am not done with puberty yet. My father is 192 and my mother is 179. I am right now around 182.
