Yes and there's specific animals that we can and cannot eat. While there's no explanation given for what is considered permissible and what isn't, there's scholars who try to make the connection. The Qur'an says pigs/swines aren't allowed to be eaten, but it doesn't say why. Usually, it's scholars that come up with an explanation. But there's always a reason as to why things are forbidden and it always makes sense at the same time.
