This is especially prevalent in the “free healthcare” countries, but advice from doctors is horrible a lot of the time.
This is due to:
1: Doctors not caring about you, but just wanting to be over with it.
2: Doctors not being up to date with research, and depending on decade old research.
Seriously, you could probably know more about a niche topic in 1/2 hours of reading than most doctors.
A personal anecdote,
I needed Finasteride, female doctor said “nah far too dangerous at your age, we do not know what kind of bad possible effects it has. I won’t prescribe it.” (obv neglecting 30 years + of research).
Then she recommended a clinic, but she slipped and said “they will most likely prescribe it to you”.
Now I got it at the private clinic, only difference? I pay out of pocket now lol. Clear kickback? Idk. Anyway, it’s still scummy at best and fraudulent at worst.
Orthodontists also yank teeth like it’s a clearance sale.
TLDR: Always do your own research before listening to doctors, NEVER follow them blindly.
