The Europeans and Japanese have always had an exaggerated martial prowess, Europeans never began to conquer ethniks until their technology was far more advanced, every single war that the Europeans fought against China before the 19th century was a failure for the, the Europeans never won a single war against China until they had a much more advanced technology and they drugged much of the Chinese population with opium.

The Japanese never won a single war against continental East Asians until they became more technology advanced, but the Nips actually had more martial virtue than Europeans because at least the nips fought and won against European powers who were more technology on par or even more advanced than themselves and were literally the last Axis power to surrender.
