How much my mother sacrificed for the opportunity I now have.
Every now and again when I think about what this is all for I remember how I only have the ability to think about something so trivial because of my mother's sacrifices.
That is why I can never hate my mother, no matter how much of my adolescence she ruined with her 'cultural norms.'
The only reason I'm even in a position to be talking to you guys on this forum, is because my mother was smart enough and hard working enough to leave Africa in search of a better life.
One which I now reap the benefits of.
Even if I did not ask to be born, the life that lies ahead of me is one to great to pass up on or complain about in comparison to the life that would have been otherwise.
I am forever grateful.
