I take care of my grandmother, she struggles with some minor tasks like the dishes due to dupuytrens, she watches it sometimes.

It does, specially indoors.
While outdoors there are more contaminants, the air is always in constant flow, unlike indoors.
Meaning the chemicals and pollution that flow in through your window will stay inside, even accumulating when you're not able to have your window open.
