Everyone’s hiring but nobody’s actually hiring

Every single store I go to I see a bunch of “hiring” signs posted all over and anytime I ask if their hiring their like “yea we’re hiring apply online”
I apply online and then literally nothing ever happens no calls no texts the only time I get responses are

1) “unfortunately we decided to move on with another applicant”
2) come to some shitty hiring event where you can tapdance along with 100 other people just for nobody to get hired cause ur all sub 6’8
3) I actually get passed the first few steps just for them to never hit me back up again
4) some automatic ai interview bs or they try to make me do like 4 different applications to some shitty job

Why the fuck do companies pretend that they’re always hiring. I understand that they need to look like they make a lot of money so investors will be happy to invest but why do they have to do it in person and also just lead you on for so long and completely waste your time

We are all fucked. It was so hard to even get my intern position with the amount of interviews I had to pass and try and make an impression on them. I know so many people who are fucked and they've already given up on even finding a job that's remotely similar to the field they're studying.
