eye contacts to enhance eye area

I see lots of guys with brown eyes will try light blue eye contacts and it will look fake

but they will try a more similar colour , green for example and it will look great

I naturally have dark blue eyes , since I am already close to having a light blue eye colour could I more easily pull off a light blue eye colour? just like a brown eyed guy can pull off a green colour?
