Last week I Had a Consultation with Dr. Joel Defranc. As you know I have Masseter Hypertrophy from too much chewing chewing gum. What I asked for was Surgical Masseter reduction.
I actually went to Antwerpen, Belgium to See him in Person. He gave a very old Look, but was very friendly and very honest. I told him I have Natural wide cheekbones but ruined my face by too much chewing. He examined my face, touched my Masseters and told me that my Masseters arent that "thick". He Said Surgical Masseter reduction is irreversible and only suited for more severe cases and he also explained too me exactly how such a surgery would Look Like. He advised me to continue using Botox and told me that in the Long Term the Masseters would shrink and I would win. The Consultation lasted Like 30 minutes and was Held in english despite that He Unserstands some german. Since He is the expert, I agreed with him in the end to continue using Botox. He also argued that Botox is almost riskfree and much safer than surgery and that He doesnt want to "harm" me. I asked how many Surgical masseter reductions He Made in His Career. He replied it was 6 Times. In the end He Said He was sorry that I came all the way from Germany and that he couldnt Help me. Since He is super old, it sometimes felt Like He Fell asleep. Lol
I again write that he gave a very friendly and Open Look. Im saying this because some Users Said He is rather harsh.
In conclusion for me:
I was very devasted that I went all the way to Belgium with No positive Outcome. He was one of the few surgeons I knew that used to do These sugeries and located Close to me. Also: I wasted Like 600+€ Just for travel by train, Hotel and food.
Fun fact is that some days ago, a User Here used to contact Dr. Defranc and His staff. The staff replied that Dr. Defranc Has retired by now. Literally Just 1 week after I consulted him. Lol pretty weird. So even If He agreed to perform surgery on me on that day, Most likely it would get cancelled anyway. So maybe it was a sign to me to not undergo such surgery and Accept the Opinion of defranc and zarrinbal since Botox Has fewer Risks. I am thinking about that quite offen now and maybe it is better that way. Here is the Proof. Marije is the lovely Woman working for Dr. Defranc. Very friendly.
But deep down I am still sad about my face and the whole Situation. I Just want my old face Back and Wish anyone would perform surgery on me. I Just want my old Looks Back minus the Nose. Chewing was the mistake of my live. And I am the Guy responsible for that mistake... I think its over. I have No other Options legt.
What do you Guys think about the Consultation and the whole Situation?
Belgium is a weird country btw, half dutch, half french basically. Lol. Germany is so much better.
