There's a company that offers fake job references as a service. They've created a bunch of fake company websites and fabricated an online presence for each. They answer calls from employers and read from a script they have prepared about you with your input. I talked to the main guy running it and he seemed credible. My hunch is that this would work, but obviously the company is skilled at deceit, so they might be taking me for a ride as well.

My question is: Does anyone have any insights or guess about how thoroughly the reference/background is conducted at small and large companies? My understanding there are third party background/reference checking companies - those might have more capacity to track down this problem. And what about huge companies like Apple and Goldman Sachs? My hunch is that they're smart and won't allow themselves to be outmanoeuvred. They've got thousands of HR people.. and I know they're kinda useless, but if there's anything they should be doing it's guarding against this loophole. What about using this for admission to top graduate schools? Are they in the same category as top companies in terms of their level of defence?

I won't mention the name of the company here, I don't want to send you rascals to them in droves... but it's easy to find with a Google search...
Btw, if you do use it I'd recommend using it sparingly, and not to get jobs your truly not qualified for.

miring dediction tbh. if you wont get caught, %100 worth it.

imo just give it a shot. if it doesnt work, you can just apply to another company.

And i doubt they make that much detailed background research if its not a high level position

I can already imagine the company you applied for a job calling and getting an Indian on the phone:
'Yes sir, the freshprince - very good man, very good worker, the best! I was his boss!
What did he do...?
Uhhh... You know -TCB... taking care of business - he the best!'

Gotta risk it for the biscuit.. I think I'm gonna go for it.

LOL.. No that's what I thought but I asked the guy in a roundabout way whether any Indians would be answering the phone and he said no. He was a slick American fella.
