I have around 2400 hours in terraria and played through it countless of times, here's some of my favorite playtroughs I've done ranked.
1. Infernal Eclipse Of Ragnarok Multi-player (calamity infernum x thorium modpack)
Easily the best experience I've had with terraria. We played bard + healer and it synergised really well. Infernum is my favorite mod ever, and it combines with thorium nicely.
Even though it's not balanced for multiplayer, we managed to make it work. We disabled infernum for some bosses (eater of worlds was broken for example), and increased the HP of some others. In the end it was extremely fun.
The run took around 80 hours to complete in total - we also tried to ran WOTG but it completely doesn't work on multiplayer, rip.
2. 1hp Infernum
Suprisingly such a pleasant experience.. or maybe not pleasant, but rewarding and satisfying.
My main enjoyment factor in this run was not needing defense shit. No more warding accessories, no more dodge accessories.. It was all purely damage and it was fun to see the numbers.
This is basically a nohit run with extra steps.. The early game was extremely painful but got better once i got wayfinder (infernum item).
But after getting better movement accessories it became extremely fun. The amount of skill expression in a run like this is insane.
The run took around a month to beat, i streamed everything to my girlfriend aswell, and she probably never heard me so angry lol. I don't remember how many deaths i had in total and I'm not on PC to check, but it was more than 1500.
Honorable mention: Exo Mechs in this playtrough were the most rage inducing experience I've ever had in terraria, but we don't talk about that. They took around 240 attempts to beat.
3. First time Calamity rogue
There's no words that can describe the beauty of experiencing calamitys rogue for the first time, it's basically like playing an entirely different game.
Every weapon has 2 different attacks. And there's a lot of fun in optimizing builds for either stealth or spam abs experiencing all the new weapons and accessories..
By the time i played rogue i played normal terraria 5-6 times and calamity 2 times (melee and summoner), so it was insane to play trough an entire new class with its own accessories and weapons. Definitely deserving the top 3 spot on this list.
4. 10x Boss HP Infernum
I've done this run right before 1 HP infernum - by choice - in order to prepare for the experience.
And TBH, it was very weirdly enjoyable.
In all my infernum runs i have a "bad" habit of over preparing for everything, which led to most boss fights lasting less than a minute.
So when i got the opportunity to actually experience the boss fights to its fullest, it wasn't too bad.
But i just want to say, FUCK moonlord and DoG in this playtrough. Was absolutely miserable.
5. First time infernum
Anyone who plays calamity probably remembers their first infernum playtrough..
And tbh, despite how painful some bosses were, in the end i realised how much i was actually enjoying myself.
But first time infernum is extremely difficult. King slime i believe took me 40 attempts, DoG took me 260..
The mod is peak and i can't play terraria nowadays without it, i did do a playtrough 2 weeks ago though to test out the new brainstorm update.. and i first tried every boss, so that's that.
6. Infernum world building playtrough
This is actually something I'm doing right now, just to relax.
Basically a super leaned back playtrough where i build big structures for everything and beat bosses multiple times.
Recently i finished a project in which i transformed the entire hell (except crags biome) into an icy biome.
Very enjoyable playtrough, but pretty boring in the long run. I usually put some YouTube series in the background while building lol.
7. True Melee infernum
Melee is already my favorite class and true melee only amplifies that, i can't wait to try the newest changes to true melee in the brainstorm update.
Might be my next playtrough!
8. Fargo's Souls Eternity Mode
I was thinking of putting masochist mode here then i realised it was so miserable i didn't even finish the playtrough..
But eternity mode is great, i really like fargos but it still feels way more amateur than infernum. However 100%'ing fargos is extremely intresting.
9. Randomizer runs (normal and calamity)
I think in terms of enjoyment both calamity and normal runs can be great on randomizer, but obviously calamity is better..
Randomizer basically randomizes all loot you get from enemies, chests, bosses, blocks and crates.
I wouldn't recommend this for a serious playtrough, but if you're bored then It can be a very funny experience.
My favorite moment was getting shattered community from a gold chest.
10. Secret Seed stuff.
I've done a bunch of secret seed runs on both normal terraria and infernum but they weren't really all that.
Yes they were intresting, but the seeds mainly serve as a nuisance than anything enjoyable.
Drunk world is fine, it gives you a free WoF arena and earlier pogo stick.
Other than that it's just casual playtroughs with more steps, but it's still something different so it deserves a spot on the list.
Bonus: Class tierlist for infernum
In terms of power:
1. Melee
2. Summoner
3. Ranged (goes higher early hardmode - ml, insane dps)
4. Mage
5. Rogue (goes higher late hardmode, very underwhelming before)
In terms of fun:
1. True melee
2. Melee
3. Reworked mage (post brainstorm)
4. Rogue
5. Summoner
6. Ranged
