I got tired of windows 10 and it's bloat and the overheating that came with it on my Thinkpad L420.
It's a bit shameful but it took me two days to do so, having to download the ISO file took some time due to my slow WiFi.
then i got Rufus and my USB drive to make a bootable drive, i had to copy the ISO to the drive which was painfully long too then came the time to boot it up.
I fucked up
my laptop's motherboard is too old so it doesn't have uefi so i had to go back and re do it.But i didn't understand that corrupted the ISO file and it took me some time to realize i fixed that then booted the drive launched the download. which was way faster , i launched the newly downloaded OS tested it a little bit and found it to my liking.
But not for long... my PC overheated and crashed, nothing out of the ordinary as the thermal paste hasn't been replaced in awhile but when i went to restart the OS i was met with black screens. It was late by then so i decided to go to sleep and solve it tomorrow. Today i tried various fixes for the problem which i identified as the explorer.exe file not being present for some reason, after a lot of tries and eventually bricking the OS i re-downloaded it a few hours ago and it has been working greatly.
I'd say it's a great OS, it's a bit slow at times notably at the start but it's not that bad. And you can't expect much from an I3 2320M and 4GB of ram. I downloaded librewolf and it's great.
Tomorrow I'll go to the library to download Tails on my drive and i look up to buying some thermal paste and a ram upgrade.
