If you are your friend is obsessed with him, then I'm sorry. This man went through a war, and saw his friends die, which made him go crazy. Since he went crazy, he started killing himself through over-dimensional sports. The guy runs marathons for several days, killing his body. I saw his video where he got up at 4:30 somewhere around there, and says something like "when I get up at a time when people are sleeping, I am the strongest" (I could be grossly mistaken) But the fact is, man.. WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU RUNNING, FROM WHOM, FROM WHAT? He is also a speaker who promotes this kind of sport. Fuck, how I laugh at those people who can't simply answer why you need this. They tell him bluntly that he is crazy, and he replies "I'm just not you"

Nah. He was a bum who couldn't read or write at a middle school level, yet passed the ASVAB test after five attempts and many months of studying. He couldn't swim, yet he smashed BUD/S training which requires rigorous amount of swimming, some in freezing water. He had ASD: a condition where the affected has a hole in their heart, giving them only 75% of a normal functioning heart. He only found out he had this condition after running dozens of ultra marathons and completing in triathlons, and participating in three BUD/S

He's not some crazy talented superman who just runs to run. He's a guy who was tired of being a 300lb bum who sprayed cockroaches for $12/hr. He picked himself up and transformed with all the odds stacked against him

Eh he is running from his abandoned kid and past trauma. Some good things can be taken away from him. But running yourself to an early grave, to at best a painful life is not for most people. I know it's not for me. Zero point in getting permeant damage and existing in pain just to push it without a mission. From what I heard too is he isn't even the best at those events he did do but he did do them to be fair. And was a controversial navy seal at that. More focus on "training" for the sack of it then for any purpose or mission.

But I still recommend his books. Gives you a good overview and some food for thought. Like how you can push the human body and achieve shit through banging your head against the wall.
